One of the best experiences when you travel to Italy is the chance to eat Italian cuisine on a daily basis for the length of your holiday. Italian cuisine is one of the most famous in the world, made the world over; it is rich, varied, healthy and offers an unforgettable dining experience at each meal. If you are a food lover touring Italy, then you must embark on a culinary journey to Tuscany, and experience all the wonders this particular style of Italian culinary experience can offer. I’ll take on a few of the restaurants in the Tuscany region (in my estimation: II Latini, Harry’s Bar and II Chicco di Caffe) that you
should not miss on your Tuscan vacation. Then, after you’ve satiated your desire for fabulous Tuscan cuisine, let me know what you think.
One of the top names among the restaurants in Florence is the II Latini Restaurant at Via dei Palchetti, 6/r, by the Palazzo Rucellai, telephone 055 210916, open Tuesday to Sunday from 12:30 p.m. To 2:30 p.m. And 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Il Latini is great place for a fine Florentine dining experience. This restaurant specializes in traditional Florentine cuisine with a modern, contemporary twist. Il Latini is very popular with both locals and tourists and is always packed with lineups outside so it’s best if you make your reservations ahead of time. One of the specialties of this place is the joy and conversations held among the diners; the tables are communals so you will be talking to strangers. Don’t forget to try the ribollita, pappa al pommodoro or the penne strascicate. If you with a large group of people, order the special table-filling platter which comes piled high with an assortment of roasted meats such as lamb, chicken and rabbit (which is excellent, by the way). Il Latini, not to be missed feast of traditional Florentine/Tuscan cooking.
Another not to be forgotton place for dining is the famous II Chicco di Caffe, at Via della Chiesa 16r, ranked highly as an eating place in the city of Florence. Do go there if you are hankering for a great Tuscan culinary experience; this is not for the sophisticated diners but for those who think food is a celebration of life. Unfortunately, the café is only open for the lunch hour. You can feast like a king with with just a little cash. But be prepared to be blown away by the delicious, hearty dishes of roasted meats, pastas and the grilled vegetables.
Another “must try”and not to be missed restaurants in Florence is the famous Harry’s Bar, famous since 1952 as an Ämerican bar, decorated with a refined warm, elegant and inviting ambience that makes it a great place to meetup with friends. Harry’s Bar in Florence is located at Harry’s Bar in Florence – Lungarno A. Vespucci 22 / r. The Tuscan cuisine is superb and is served with the best of wines. You’ll also not want to miss another specialty of Harry’s – the well stocked American bar where you must have the famous Bellini cocktail or whatever you will when you meetup, sit down and enjoy yourself with a splendid afternoon in Florence. If the weather is good, sit out on the terrace which overlooks the Arno River. Something to brag about when you go home. (Photo from the Harry’s Bar, Florence website).
If you are headed for Florence on your vacation in Tuscany, these restaurants should not be missed where you can enjoy the full experience of Tuscan cuisine. Best bet: what’s served up at these best restaurants in Florence will be meals you will never forget.
